By enrolling in one of the many outstanding RN programs in California, students are able to acquire the skills and training necessary to become a Registered Nurse. Registered nursing schools in California offer both Associates Degrees in Nursing (ADN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees (BSN) – either of which qualifies the student to take the NCLEX-RN examination required to earn licensure.
California’s public universities are home to several of the most prestigious registered nursing programs in the nation, and the state’s private nursing schools are second to none. With so many great options to choose from, it can accurately be said that the Golden State is one of the best places in world for aspiring registered nurses to study.
About RN Programs in California
The state Board of Registered Nursing had approved 39 RN programs in California that offer Baccalaureate degrees as of November 2011. The Board has additionally approved the associates degree in nursing programs offered at 72 California community colleges. Because of these programs’ accreditation status, their graduates are qualified to immediately sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.
The prerequisites for nursing schools throughout the state vary from one institution to the next but, in general, admission requirements have increased steadily in recent years thanks to dramatically increased competition among applicants.
